![]() I keep thinking there has to be a way around this. And I don't think I ever had this problem before when I had to reinstall after that old Mac crashed. And I had purchased it way back before the internet was big, so I don't think the software would have been set up to contact the publisher over the internet to unlock it. But when I open the backup, the serial key just won't work (I have a Mac laptop that runs system 9 as well as OS X). On the Mac side, I have a much older version of Fontographer (which I had also backed up). Another is Manga Creator from Planetwide Games. I had it full of recipes that I can no longer access (I had backed it up, too). One software I have that's doing it is Living Cookbook. And since the publisher no longer exists, the software will not leave trial mode. I have the serial keys.īut some software just won't unlock because the companies that published them no longer exist and they must have been set up so they will only unlock after the software communicates with the publisher over the internet. So I've been gradually trying to reinstall software I legally own and had purchased onto newer computers. My laptop PC recently died, and about a year ago, my older Macintosh also died. ![]()
